Holowczyc takes the lead, Przygonski suffers puncture

(01.09.2018) Krzysztof Hołowczyc and Łukasz Kurzeja (Mini John Cooper Works Rally) were fastest during the first run of stage at military range in Drawsko Pomorskie. Behind five-time Baja Poland winner came Jakub Przygoński with Tom Colsoul. Current leaders of FIA World Cup standings changed the wheel after puncture and lost nearly two minutes over the course of 222-kilometres test.

This year, the route of the longest Columna Medica Baja Poland stage proved to be extremely fast, what turned out to be good for Holowczyc. Olsztyn-born driver avoided punctures, which held back his main rivals. Przygonski and Colsoul stopped in the stage to change the wheel and lost nearly two minutes to stage winners. This meant that Orlen Team representatives dropped to second place in overall classification of the event.

Another crew, who did not have puncture-free run was Vladimir Vasiliev and Konstantin Zhilcov (Toyota Hilux Overdrive). Russian duo scored third result at the military range, loosing over 7 minutes to Holowczyc and more than 5 minutes to Przygonski. Martin Prokop and Jan Tomanek (Ford Raptor RS) were even more unlucky than Vasiliev and Zhilcov. Czech crew suffered two punctures – both of them in right rear tyre. All in all, Prokop and Tomanek finished Drawsko test in fourth position – over 10 minutes behind stage winners. After 222-kilometres long battle there was a draw between Czech duo and the leaders of Polish Cross-Country Championship. Michal Maluszynski and Julita Maluszynska (Mini All4 Racing) finished the stage in exactly the same time as Prokop and Tomanek.

After two stages of Columna Medica Baja Poland it is Holowczyc and Kurzeja who lead the overall classification of Polish World Cup Counter. Further positions belong to Przygoński/Colsoul (+1:41,5 s.), Vasiliev/Zhilcov (+7:06,9 s.), Prokop/Tomanek (+9:22,6 s.), Małuszyński/Małuszyńska (+9:46,2 s.), Zapletal/Momot (+11:02,9 s.), Hozak/Sykora (+18:37,0 s.), Schroeder/Schroeder (+28:22,3 s.).

Adam Tomiczek (KTM EXC-F 450) leads the off-road battle among motorcycle riders. In quad category Jan Stolarczyk (Can-Am Renegade 1000) holds nearly one-minute advantage over his rivals.

After service break the crews head again to military range, where another run of 222-kilometre long stage will be held.
