Not only World Cup - part two

(02.08.2019) ORLEN Baja Poland is not only the round of FIA World Cup for Baja Rallies. Szczecin-based event count towards many other championship series too. Now it is time for the second part of our article.

Polish Cross Country Cup (RPPST)

The Polish Cup is held together with Polish championship rounds, which means that cup entrants compete on the same stages as national title contenders. This series is dedicated for less experienced drivers, who look for a cheaper way of cross country rallying. The main difference, comparing to Polish championship, is competitors’ licence. RN licence makes driver eligible to compete in the cup rounds, while R licence is required to enter championship-level events. What is more, vehicle regulations are less strict, which makes cup participation cheaper. Cars are divided into three categories: S1 – off road vehicles with improvements, S2 – stock off road vehicles and UTV – for lightweight vehicles based on tube frame. The minimum weight is 850 kg, while engine capacity is limited to 1050 cm3. After two rounds of the Cup, it is Michal Goczal who tops the leaderboard.

Polish Cross Country Dacia Duster Elf Cup (DDEC)

An innovative formula introduced by Renault Poland, Overlimit and Holowczyc Racing – the company owned by multiple Baja Poland winner Krzysztof Holowczyc. In Dacia Duster Elf Cup crews compete in identical rally versions of Dacia Duster compact SUV. DDEC is held under the regulations of Polish Cross Country Cup. The competitors battle not only for points, but for prizes as well. In 2019 season, cup winners get the spectator trip to 2020 Dakar Rally. Moreover, there are money prizes for top results in DDEC rounds. Five out of six rallies of 2019 season are held in Poland, while for the season finale DDEC competitors will go to Hungary:

  • 7-8 June: Geotermia Ladek-Zdroj

  • 2-4 August: Polskie Safari

  • 29 August – 1 September: ORLEN Baja Poland

  • 20-22 September: Baja Szczecinek

  • 18-20 October: Baja Europe

  • 8-10 November: Raid of Champions (Hungary)

Polish Cup in Baja Rallies (PPRB)
